Those who know and love our area do not agree about when our mountains are more beautiful – in summer or in winter. That’s why many people visit us twice a year.

Radstadt/ Altenmarkt and Zauchensee/Flachauwinkl/Kleinarl are situated in the middle of the Niedere Tauern, or, more precisely, the Radstädter Tauern: light and friendly mountains with many cultivated Alpine pastures, high-moor bogs and mountain lakes. The mountains peaks are at an altitude of around two thousand metres and are not difficult to reach. This makes our area very popular with mountaineers who prefer their mountains wide rather than steep and exposed. And more and more mountain bikers and Nordic Walking enthusiasts have come to like our mountains too.

In the south, the panoramic view is of the main Alpine ridge, and in the north, the spacious Pongau district opens up. Sometimes, on days when the autumnal light is crystal clear, you can see far beyond the borders of the Salzburg region. The ideal location for such views: the terrace of a cosy Alpine lodge, with a shot of Zirbengeist, fresh farm-baked bread and home-made cheese. These surely are excellent prospects!
